AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs reportedly delayed to launch at CES 2025
The release of AMD's Ryzen 9000 series has faced some challenges, with mixed early reviews and anticipation building for the enhanced X3D CPUs, which are now slated for a launch at a later date than previously rumored. AMD's Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs featuring the 3D V-Cache technology are going to be the next major launch from the red team on the AM5 Desktop platform. The launch was initially headed for late 2024 with October being described as the unveiling of the new chips but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
AMD has not officially disclosed the launch date for their next-generation X3D CPUs, but they have confirmed that they are in development, promising "really cool updates." The specifics of these updates, such as potential higher clock speeds, increased L3 cache or bandwidth, and additional features, remain unknown at this time.
Reputable hardware leakers HXL and 1usmus have indicated that the X3D CPUs will be released at CES 2025. While this is a long wait for impatient upgraders, it may prove to be a good thing for AMD and PC builders alike.
Ryzen 9000X3D CES 2025?
— HXL (@9550pro) August 22, 2024
A few days ago, AMD has announced a forthcoming Windows update that can result in a 13% performance improvement for their Ryzen 9000 series CPUs in games. Additionally, new firmware updates are in the pipeline to enhance the stability and performance of the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, which should be beneficial leading up to the potential X3D CPU launch.
While the desire for immediate access to the Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs is understandable, a postponed launch could be the most advantageous choice for all involved parties, in order to avoid the issues experienced with the non-X3D parts in their launch.
