Since SNK released Samurai Shodown last year it has become quite a popular game and it proves that the Japanese company still has a knack for creating fighting games and giving players what they want. The weapon fighting mechanics in Samurai Shodown are easy to understand but hard to master, the visuals are quite attractive and are reminiscent of the classic games in the series, and the game features enough gameplay modes to keep the players interested. It was not a surprise when it was selected as one of the fighting games to be present at EVO 2019 and, of course, it will be one of the main games in the competition this year too.
The variety of characters that are available in Samurai Shodown is one of the keys to its success. Each of them feels unique and the base game features seventeen different fighters. Among those you could find iconic characters of the series, like Haohmaru, Jubei or Nakoruru, but also new faces like Darli Dagger. To make things even more interesting, four new characters were added as DLC during the Season 1 of Samurai Shodown, namely Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan-Fu.
SNK has revealed the characters coming for Season 2 of Samurai Shodown. The first of them is a deadly archer called Mina, who is able to use her daikyū asymmetrical bow to dispatch enemies at range and also fight in melee combat. Mina can be unlocked separately or as part of the Pass for the Season 2 of Samurai Shodown, which includes four characters that will be unlocked progressively as the year advances. Mina will be available on February 26th, and she will be followed by Sogetsu Kazama, Iroha, and a fourth character that has not been unveiled yet.
Samurai Shodown is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and it's coming to Nintendo Switch tomorrow in Europe and America.
