EVO 2020 games have been revealed and the list has some surprises

Every year, the best players from all over the world gather to participate in the Evolution Championship Series (widely known as EVO) and fight to become the champions in the different competitions. This year's edition will take place at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas from July 31st to August 2nd and it will feature eight different tournaments. The list of games that will be present in the event has been revealed and there are a few significant surprises on it.

First of all, Mortal Kombat 11 will not be present in this year's edition of the championship. We don't know if it has been left out by the organization of the event or if NetherRealms is hosting its own big championship at some point during 2020. Regardless of the reasons behind it, it's noteworthy that one of the most popular fighting games franchises won't be at EVO 2020.

But Mortal Kombat 11 will not be the only significant absence in EVO 2020. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be missing the event too. It seems that the guys from Arc System Works want to give a prominent spot to their brand new title, and since Granblue Fantasy Versus is about to be released, it will be representing the Japanese developer.

The list of games that will be at EVO 2020 is completed with Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r], Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, SoulCalibur VI and Samurai Shodown. The weapon fighting title from SNK returns this year after getting a lot of attention in 2019.

EVO 2020 will also serve to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes and we will be able to watch the best eight players in the history of the game compete to become the winner of an invitational tournament.
