Fortnite may become more social with a weaponless mode

Epic Games has already launched events of all kinds in Fortnite but it seems that the recent Travis Scott concert and its huge repercussion may be reason enough to raise the developer's interest in delving a bit deeper into the social aspect of the game. The release of the 12.50 content update yesterday has come with a lot of changes that include plenty of customization items and some bug fixes. The most important one is the one that adjusts Aim Assist so it won't give any advantage for those playing with higher frame rates. But other than that, it seems that Fortnite may be getting a new map that will be completely different from what we have seen in the game in the past.

Papaya Island is a new map coming to Fortnite where players are not able to use weapons, and that offers a series of non-combat activities for the players' leisure. It would be part of Party Royale, a new experimental initiative from Fortnite's creators that wants to explore the social aspect of the game. Some players have received an email from Epic Games on this matter in which you can read the following:

Party Royale is a new experimental and evolving space. Leave your weapons and mats behind. We plan to run some tests here this Friday at 9 pm EST. These are subject to change, but feel free to come by and check it out. The party's just getting started."

There is also a picture of the map that has been widely shared on social media, which shows a series of points of interest for all kinds of activities.

We don't know yet if Party Royale will become a permanent part of Fortnite or if it will be some kind of limited-time event. It will probably depend on how popular it is and it may became ending in a sort of social hub of some kind for Fortnite players. In any case, it will be a welcomed addition for Epic Games' Battle Royale game.
