Epic’s new free games include a huge open-world space adventure hit

It's time for more freebies as Epic Games launches its latest weekly promotion, featuring a duo of games available for free. Replacing last week's Cardpocalypse giveaway with a rather unusual pairing, this week's freebies are Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition, and both can be permanently added to your Epic Games Store library at no cost.

Leading the latest giveaway is Breathedge, a first-person survival adventure from RedRuins. Originally released in 2021, it strands you in the wreckage of a spaceship, where you'll need to keep an eye on your oxygen supply while scavenging materials and crafting equipment in the unforgiving vacuum of space. There's plenty to do beyond simply staying alive. You'll explore the debris surrounding the destroyed spacecraft, construct outposts and vehicles, and venture farther into space as you investigate what caused the disaster in the first place.

Naturally, Breathedge isn't exactly the most serious survival game out there. Its bizarre premise, dark humor, and ridiculous situations are constantly poking fun at traditional sci-fi adventures. One moment you're worrying about oxygen, and the next you're dealing with coffins, corpses, and a rather strange interstellar conspiracy.

If you'd rather keep your feet on solid ground, Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition offers a considerably more relaxing alternative. This horse racing and management game puts you in charge of a run-down ranch, tasking you with rebuilding your family's equestrian legacy.

You'll be able to breed, train, care for, and race horses, with the breeding system allowing you to develop animals with different characteristics and stats. Beyond the horses themselves, you'll also upgrade ranch facilities, hire staff, enter competitions, and gradually turn the struggling property into a successful racing operation.

The latest Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition giveaways are available on the Epic Games Store until September 3, giving you seven days to claim both games. Once you've added them to your library, they're yours to keep permanently, with another pair of freebies scheduled to replace them when the promotion ends.
