Xbox Live is coming to Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch
It surely is a busy year for Microsoft as it prepares to bring Xbox Live across platforms! You heard it right, there is Xbox Live expansion, and it will be in your mobiles and Nintendo Switch soon if everything goes according to plan. Microsoft said that this move will benefit developers as it allows them to connect players between Android, iOS, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any other games in the Microsoft Store.
This news about Xbox Live expansion is to be officially revealed to the public in the Game Developers Conference next month. The session entitled Xbox Live: Growing & Engaging Your Gaming Community Across iOS, Android, Switch, Xbox, and PC is to be presented by Jeffrey Shi (Xbox Principal Program Manager) and Ramsey Khadder (Xbox Software Engineer). It is safe to assume that the speakers will reveal more details of the planned Xbox Live expansion in the GDC.

This news is not so shocking since Microsoft has been making subtle moves of bringing Xbox Live to a few games on other platforms but this one is by far their biggest step in breaking boundaries in the gaming world. Microsoft wants to reach more people outside its normal target market, the company intends to bring software, games, and services to players in a single platform. Also, part of this plan is the Xbox Game Pass where people can subscribe and access games no matter when and where they want to play them. It’s going to be the mecca of the gaming community.
Sony might be having the same thought in mind as well since they allowed PlayStation 4 users to play Fortnite and Rocket League on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. But Sony has been tight-lipped about any further plans on that cross-play just yet. For more details and news about Microsoft’s plan on Xbox Live expansion, the Game Developers Conference will start this coming March 18 and will continue until March 22 this year.
