Wolverine trailer rumored for PlayStation’s next showcase
It’s been nearly four years since Insomniac Games first revealed Wolverine with a short CGI teaser, and fans may finally be getting the update they’ve been waiting for. According to insider reports, PlayStation is preparing a new State of Play event for late September, and Wolverine is “almost certain” to appear with a brand-new trailer.
The game has had a turbulent journey so far. A damaging cyberattack in late 2023 leaked large portions of the project, including early gameplay footage, sparking concerns about its progress. Despite this, Insomniac reassured fans that development was moving forward, though no release window has been officially confirmed. Now, with insiders claiming the trailer is finished and ready to go, expectations are rising that Logan’s solo adventure could be targeting a 2026 launch.
A Major Return for Insomniac
If Wolverine does appear at September’s showcase, it would mark Insomniac’s biggest announcement since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Released in 2023, that sequel built upon the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered with a darker story, stunning visuals, and the ability to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Together, these two titles cemented Insomniac’s reputation as the premier studio for Marvel superhero games.
Naturally, this has placed Wolverine under immense pressure to deliver. However, early feedback from playtesters has been encouraging, with some describing the game as “fantastic” in its current state. If the September State of Play does feature a new trailer, fans might even get their first look at gameplay — or perhaps a long-awaited release window.
For now, while the wait continues, there’s no better time to revisit Insomniac’s other Marvel hits. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are available on PC and PS5, offering fans the chance to swing across New York in style while waiting for Logan to slice his way into the spotlight.
