Total War: Warhammer 2 announced

Publisher SEGA has officially announced the release of Total War: Warhammer 2 sometime this year.

The strategy franchise developed by Creative Assembly is expanding the branch dedicated to the popular miniature tabletop game from Games Workshop. As usual, this kind of announcement comes with a cinematic trailer.

Total War: WARHAMMER 2 – Announcement Cinematic Trailer

So, what can we expect from this Total War: Warhammer sequel? So far it's clear that High Elves, Dark Elves, and Lizardmen will be joining all the other playable armies and one yet to be announced in the second installment of the trilogy, That rat at the end of the video might be teasing the followers of the Horned Rat as the fourth race, don't you think so?
The good news is that if you own the previous game you are entitled to play a vast combined campaign with any of the races that you own, so you will be able to play leading your favorite armies to victory.

Also, the focus will also move far from the Old World territories, into the lands of Lustria, Naggaroth, Ulthuan and The Southlands. SEGA has stated that the story in Total War: Warhammer 2 will be different from its predecessor's, with territorial conquest not being enough and players having to take care of a new mechanic:

"Players will struggle for dominion over the ailing Great Vortex that has swirled for millennia above the elven homeland of Ulthuan. Performing a series of arcane rituals, each race must save or disrupt the Vortex according to their motivations—a struggle culminating in a cataclysmic endgame."

No launch date has been announced so far, and we will have to wait until more information is released to see what else is included in the new title, maybe hoping for a bit more than four races and new territories if we are to buy a new game. As long as the quality standards are maintained just those new races may be enough for many fans of the franchise.
