This week's game launches on PC, PS5, Xbox: October 2026 (Week 41)

This Week's Video Game Releases - October 2026 (Week 41)
Release date

This week, two very different blockbusters arrive with plenty to prove: Gears of War: E-Day takes players back to the bloody beginning of the Locust invasion, while STAR WARS: Galactic Racer puts the galaxy's most recognizable universe behind the wheel. And just when things seem to be settling down, Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen Expansion arrives to drag adventurers back into the wilderness.

Those are undoubtedly the biggest attractions of the week, but they are far from the only new games landing between October 5 and October 11. Horror fans get a new Hellraiser nightmare, Kingdom Hearts returns in a modern collection, and even the Sesame Street crew is getting in on the action. Also, AION 2 launches today as a free-to-play MMORPG, allowing players to dive into a massive experience that brings plenty of novelties to the franchise.

October 5 - 11 releases

The week's biggest arrival is arguably Gears of War: E-Day, launching October 6 on Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Coalition is taking the series back fourteen years before the original Gears of War. The game follows a young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they face the first emergence of the Locust Horde on Sera. That means plenty of chainsaws, bullets and collapsing infrastructure, but E-Day offers more. It has been designed to take the series back to its roots and make players feel the horror that defined the original game. The campaign can be played solo, in two-player split-screen co-op or with up to four players online. Multiplayer also gets an expanded Horde Siege mode alongside revamped Versus action, while the game itself has been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with modernized movement and traversal.

October 6 will also bring us STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, a game that asks an important question: what if the Star Wars universe stopped worrying about galactic politics for five minutes and simply went racing?

The answer to that question is a high-speed trip across familiar locations and new tracks, including a particularly chaotic course on Jakku that winds through the wreckage of Star Destroyers and AT-ATs. The game launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. STAR WARS: Galactic Racer offers a modern take on high-octane acrade racing that comes accompanied by a thrilling campaign.

The rest of the week has plenty of ammunition for players who have already made room on their SSDs. Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen Expansion arrives October 8/9 depending on territory, bringing a substantial new adventure to Capcom's action RPG. The expansion sends players into the Snowy North, where new challenges and a new storyline await. Capcom says the additional content has been developed with feedback from players of the original release in mind, including efforts to improve accessibility. Oh, and if you are new to the franchise, there is a package available that includes the base game and expansion.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival arrives October 8, bringing the disturbing mythology of the Hellraiser franchise back to interactive entertainment. The first-person survival horror game puts players in the shoes of Aidan, who must explore a nightmarish world while trying to rescue his girlfriend from the Cenobites. Expect puzzles, exploration, combat and plenty of reasons to think twice before touching anything that looks remotely like a mysterious puzzle box.

Also launching on October 8 is Forever Ago, a single-player road trip adventure with a narrative that explores a heartfelt story about loss, hope, and and friendship. Meanwhile, Silver Pines is a survival-horror experience with metroidvania elements that puts you in the shoes of a private investigator who is trying to find a missing musician.

Fans of Square Enix's long-running crossover saga can also look forward to Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III] on October 8. The package includes KINGDOM HEARTS HD -1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC), making it a convenient opportunity to discover or revisit the franchise.

There are also a few releases aimed at younger players and families. Sesame Street: Friends & Fun arrives October 9, offering a much more cheerful way to spend the weekend, while HORSE CLUB Ride West launches the same day for players looking for a more relaxed equestrian adventure with the Wild West as a backdrop.

Those releases offer completely different reasons to sit down and lose an entire evening. You just need to decide which one appeals to you and visit our comparator to find the best deals.
