TDM announces Neo headphones with a clever twist-to-speaker design
Tired of choosing between carrying headphones and a portable speaker? TDM. has come up with an unusual solution. Its Neo Hybrid Headphones can work as a traditional pair of over-ear headphones, but twist the headband and the entire device transforms into a compact Bluetooth speaker.
First shown at CES 2026, the Neo combines conventional headphone hardware with a second set of speakers designed to project sound outward. The headphones use custom-tuned 40mm drivers for personal listening, while two additional 5W drivers become the main speakers when Neo is switched into speaker mode.
A patented mechanism built into the headband allows the headphones to fold and rotate into their alternate configuration. Despite the extra hardware, the complete device weighs less than 340 grams and is designed to sit on a variety of surfaces once converted into speaker mode. TDM. claims battery life of more than 200 hours when used as headphones and over 16 hours when operating as a speaker.
The transformation can also be customized through the companion app. Depending on the user's settings, twisting the headband can switch between headphone and speaker modes, pause playback, or turn the device off. The app also provides separate equalizer controls for the two modes, along with a Game Mode, Find My Device functionality, and power-management options.
TDM. has equipped Neo with multi-array microphones supporting Environmental Noise Cancellation, while the physical design includes removable memory foam ear cushions and an adjustable headband. There is also a 3.5mm AUX connection for wired listening, and a carrying case is included.
The concept is certainly unusual, but it could make sense for travelers and commuters who occasionally want to share their music without packing a second audio device. Instead of carrying a pair of headphones and a speaker, Neo attempts to combine both into a single package.
The TDM. Neo Hybrid Headphones are now available to order in Onyx Black or Cool White for $249 (€249 / £249). Orders are expected to ship between October 13 and 16 through TDM.'s website, with availability at Amazon and Walmart for the US also planned for the future.
