Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman showcase new trailers

The Game Awards 2021 featured a couple of exciting news from the DC side of gaming: the gameplay teaser for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the announcement trailer for the first-ever Wonder Woman solo game.

Have a look at the Suicide Squad trailer now:

We’re seeing the gameplay of Suicide Squad for the first time, and so far it’s nothing less than spectacular. Rocksteady’s mastery of combat mechanics really shines as the Squad jumps into action: Deadshot blazing through the air on his jetpack while engaging in rapid-fire gunplay, Harley Quinn crushing heads with her baseball bat, Captain Boomerang moving at supersonic speeds, and King Shark biting the heads off of hapless enemies.

Speaking of first times, we also get a teaser to the first Wonder Woman standalone game, care of Monolith, the makers of the Middle-Earth series of games.

According to Monolith’s description:

"The single player open-world action game will introduce an original story set in the DC Universe and allow players to become Diana of Themyscira in the fight to unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world."

This tells us that Wonder Woman will have no ties to the Suicide Squad or the Arkhamverse of games.

The description further states that Wonder Woman will use the Nemesis System, which will let players “forge deep connections with both enemies and allies as they progress from a heroic fighter into a proven leader." This makes perfect sense for Diana, given she’s both a warrior and an emissary for the Amazon nation. The Nemesis system could let the player dramatically alter Diana’s relationships both with her allies and her foes. One wrong move with a friend and maybe they’ll come back as your latest supervillain.

Of course, the announcement still raises lots of questions—will the game take place in Themyscira, the paradise of the Amazons? Will it feature other heroes, like Wonder Girl? Most of all, who will play the villain?

Sadly, neither game has a release date yet. We know that Suicide Squad will launch some time in 2022, but Wonder Woman will likely take years in the making. Hopefully, we’ll hear more news sooner than later. In the meantime, keep an eye on our cheapest prices for PC keys of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as its launch date approaches.
