Rico Rodriguez could be back in another Just Cause

The infamous CIA agent has traveled all over the world in previous installments of the series, but Square Enix could have a new location in mind for his new adventure. Just Cause was set on the tropical island of San Esperito, Just Cause 2 in the Panau archipelago, Just Cause 3 in the Mediterranean island of Medici, and finally, Just Cause 4 allowed you to visit Solis in South America. Our hero is ready to join the fight wherever a dictator oppresses the citizens, and Square Enix knows it.

We were starting to think that the publisher may have forgotten about one of its favorite series since all the recent novelties about it came in the form of a free-to-play mobile adaptation of Just Cause. Fortunately, it's been casually confirmed during a recent investors briefing that a new installment of the open-world first-person shooting series is in the works.

"We want to focus on creating new titles that align with our strategy, including ones that leverage new IP. The Just Cause franchise will remain our IP, and we are at work developing a new title in the franchise."

The responsibility for developing the new Just Cause will probably fall in the hands of Avalanche Studios. The group has done a very good job with previous installments, and they have a knack for first-person shooters, as demonstrated in games like Mad Max, Rage 2, and Just Cause 4. Sadly, there is no additional information about the new Just Cause, and Avalanche could be preparing to surprise us with a spin-off.

In any case, we should hear more about this new Just Cause in the coming months. If you want to find out what has made the series popular enough to have four games so far and another one on the way, feel free to visit our comparator to find all its games at the best price, including a Just Cause 4 PC code.
