Razer Hammerhead V3 Chroma launches with a unique angled USB-C design

Razer unveils Hammerhead V3 Chroma with ANC and a clever angled USB-C plug

Razer is bringing back wired gaming earbuds with a new feature set designed specifically for mobile players. The Hammerhead V3 Chroma combines active noise cancellation (ANC), USB-C connectivity, and the company's signature RGB lighting, while its unusual right-angle connector is intended to make gaming in landscape mode more comfortable.

Choosing a wired headset in 2026 might seem like an odd move when wireless earbuds are everywhere, but Razer is betting that some players still value a direct connection. USB-C audio eliminates the potential latency associated with Bluetooth, avoids battery concerns during longer gaming sessions, and does away with Bluetooth audio compression.

The right-angle USB-C plug is one of the more distinctive design choices. Rather than sticking straight out of a phone or handheld, it sits more naturally when a device is held horizontally. The earbuds also feature ANC to help block out background noise, an inline microphone, and physical controls for volume and media playback. Everything is connected by a bright green cable that fits Razer's familiar gaming aesthetic.

Audio customisation is available through several built-in presets, with the option to create a personalised profile. PC users also get access to THX 7.1 Surround Sound, giving the Hammerhead V3 Chroma some additional appeal beyond mobile gaming. Naturally, Chroma RGB lighting is included as well, with the Razer logos on the earbuds seemingly capable of cycling through different colours.

There is one important compatibility detail to consider before buying. These earbuds operate entirely through digital USB-C audio, meaning the connected device must support audio output over its USB-C port. Most modern smartphones, tablets, compatible gaming handhelds, and iPhones from the iPhone 15 generation onward should fit the bill. Devices with only a 3.5mm headphone jack are not supported, and Razer has not mentioned including an adapter.

The Hammerhead V3 Chroma also serves as a successor of sorts to the original Hammerhead V2 wired earbuds, which debuted more than a decade ago. While Razer has released other wired models since then, this latest version puts a much clearer emphasis on mobile and PC gaming. The launch also adds another product to Razer's recent wave of peripheral releases, which includes the Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition controller, the Barracuda V2 Pro headset, and its Evangelion EVA-01-themed collection.

Razer's Hammerhead V3 Chroma is now available for $79.99 / €89.99 / £79.99 via Razer.com, RazerStores, and select retailers. You can find the in-ear headphones on Amazon via this link; more information is available on Razer’s product page.
