Project Z: the new Dragon Ball RPG has been announced

We don´t know if you watched the fantastic grand final of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour yesterday. If you missed it, you can watch it here, but we can tell you that it was some intense and exciting competition where Kazunoko managed to beat Fenritti, becoming first-ever Dragon Ball FighterZ world champion. If you have been following us, you already know that there was something else to be happening during the event, and that's the announcement of a new Dragon Ball game, more exactly Project Z. As expected, the new action-RPG title based on the adventures of Son Goku was introduced after the finals with the following trailer.

In Project Z we will accompany Goku on his search for the ultimate fight, meeting characters of the most popular anime series from Akira Toriyama, like Piccolo, Vegeta or Frieza. There is still a lot to be unveiled about the game mechanics, but we hope that the story behind the title hides more than just matches between fighters because that´s precisely what we get on most of the other games from the series, like Dragon Ball FighterZ. The original search for the Dragon Balls was quite a funny and entertaining story, but at the beginning of the Namek Saga the series changed a bit, and many people think that, from there, it just focused too much on just spectacular fights with the story itself becoming a tad slow.

Project Z is still going through the development process, and the studio in charge of completing this highly anticipated title is Cyberconnect2, creators of the Naruto Shippuden series. So we know at least what to expect regarding the fights because the adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto is excellent. There is no release date for Project Z yet, so we will have to wait for a while to see what the game is about for real.
