PlayStation celebrates God of War’s anniversary with gratitude and freebies

God of War gets a week-long celebration from Sony.

God of War

God of War's Father and Son Duo

Around this time last year, God of War was launched, and there’s no doubt that the game has been an immense success with the number of awards it has under its belt. To recap, God of War won Game of the Year in most 2018 events and just recently, it won a BAFTA Game Awards as the Best Game, Best Performer for Jeremy Davies, Best Music Narrative, and Audio Achievements. That's not a very easy feat, if I may say so myself. God of War was received very positively, and PlayStation thanked everyone who loves the game in a video uploaded in their official YouTube channel.

Matt Sopnos said that the reach of God of War is amazing, how it spoke to people, and how they embraced it. The whole team gave much emphasis to how the fans really made the game their own. The video also features some of the fans around the world who made them feel special and how they sent them cards and letters telling them how they can relate to the God of War theme or simply the bond between a father and a son. To kick off the celebration, Sony Santa Monica team made an Anniversary avatar set and dynamic theme that can be downloaded for free via PlayStation Store. You are welcome to get the freebies regardless if you own a God of War game or not. Unfortunately, though, we have known through a follow-up tweet from director Cory Barlog that there will be no DLC for the game. Aside from that, there is also a God of War free dynamic theme showing Kratos and Atreus seemingly fixing something in a boat on the Lake of Nine. The dynamic theme is available in EU and NA stores.

Due to God of War success, the team is back on track and shifted their efforts from creating expansions to possibly making another title of the series. If you haven't played the game yet, you can check our comparator and see where you can get it at the lowest price.
