NVIDIA unveils RTX 5070 mobile GPU with new 12GB memory variant
Nvidia has officially introduced a new 12GB version of its RTX 5070 mobile GPU, upgrading the existing model by equipping it with higher-capacity 24Gb GDDR7 memory modules. This results in an additional 4GB of VRAM compared to the original 8GB variant.
The new 12GB RTX 5070 will be available alongside the older 8GB model, giving laptop manufacturers more flexibility when designing RTX-powered gaming systems. With the increased memory capacity, this version is better prepared to handle modern, more demanding titles, many of which require larger amounts of VRAM to run smoothly.
In terms of core specifications, the updated model remains unchanged. It still features 4608 CUDA cores, a 128-bit memory bus, and operates within a 50–100W TDP range. The primary difference lies in the shift from 16Gb (2GB) to 24Gb (3GB) GDDR7 memory modules, enabling the higher overall memory capacity.
For anyone considering an RTX 5070 laptop, the 12GB variant is the more future-proof choice. GPUs with 8GB of VRAM are already starting to show limitations in some newer games, and the additional memory can help prevent performance bottlenecks. It’s also beneficial for productivity workloads such as video editing, 3D design, and other memory-intensive tasks.
This announcement coincides with the release of Nvidia’s latest WHQL-certified 596.36 Game Ready driver. The update brings support for the upcoming Conan Exiles Enhanced upgrade, which is set to launch on May 5. This revamped version of Funcom’s long-running multiplayer RPG introduces improved visuals, better performance, and modern rendering features.
With the new driver, Nvidia is also enabling day-one support for DLSS technologies as part of its DLSS 4.5 suite, including DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and Reflex. The update also includes general bug fixes and optimizations, and the Conan Exiles Enhanced upgrade will be free for existing players.
