When considering the MK series as a whole, Kano is not entirely a new character. He was, in fact, one of the seven original characters of the Mortal Kombat franchise but just stopped showing after few appearances. Kano is an infamous mercenary with a cybernetic eye. He is fast and he is armed with a good projectile attack. His trademark attack, the Kano Ball, allows him to roll into a ball and launch himself to his opponents. This attack is very effective in a close-range battle but incurs less damage when used at long range.
Kano was first seen in 1992’s Mortal Kombat arcades version. He was the leader of the Black Dragon and was often shown in a bloody war with the Special Forces agent, Sonya Blade and her partner, Jax. Kano’s presence in Mortal Kombat has been short, with only two appearances in the whole franchise. He was one of the several fighters who jumped into live action and was portrayed by the Aussie actor Trevor Goddard in the Mortal Kombat film in 1995. In the web series of 2011, Kano was portrayed by the English actor Darren Shahlavi for the Mortal Kombat: Legacy. However, there are still a few other fighters to be revealed. Scorpion and Raiden. for example, are already expected to appear in Mortal Kombat 11. As announced, the game will be released on PS4 and Xbox One this coming April 23, 2019 and will be launched in Nintendo Switch ports this May 10, 2019. Whether he has new attacks or not is something we still don't know. What we are aware for sure of is that he is coming back and is more aggressive than ever. Check out Dynasty's video commentary of Kano below.
