Multiplayer is coming to the Truck Simulator series
Even though both Euro Truck Simulator and American Truck Simulator series offer the most realistic experience to those that enjoy driving some of the most powerful trucks as they transport invaluable goods, there is one element that has been missing in the series. You were not able to share the fun with your friends, communicate with other players through the radio, or anything, so you had to go through the full experience alone unless you decided to use one of the mods available for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
Fortunately, SCS Software has decided to implement multiplayer as a feature in both games. The developer has open it to test through an experimental beta that is available to all players that own Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator. Players that take part in it are able to host and create private sessions for up to 8 people. The participants will be able to communicate via CB radio broadcast and take on contracts together. they will play together in the same world with synchronized AI traffic, time, and weather. This gameplay mode called Convoy is still experimental, therefore, mods are not supported and all players have to share the same DLC as the host to join a game.
SCS Software has detailed all the features of this mode in the official forums and you can find the answer to any of your doubts by reading this post. It's great that they are implementing such a feature in both games as a majority of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator players are already making use of mods to have it in their games. Multiplayer adds a new level of realism to the simulation in the series.
