MiSide: Zero launches surprise alpha
MiSide: Zero has officially stepped out of the shadows, with a surprise alpha release giving fans their first hands-on experience with a fan-made prequel to the psychological horror hit MiSide. Shadow-dropped on December 29, 2025, the early build is available for free via itch.io and offers a glimpse into events that take place roughly a year before the original game.
Developed by Voidway, a small team led by Kojo and Nick, MiSide: Zero is not an official installment, but it aims to expand the universe in meaningful ways. Players step into the role of a character known as “Zero,” a figure briefly encountered in the original game, as he becomes emotionally entangled with the mysterious Mita. What begins as a simple invitation to try a game quickly spirals into a disturbing blend of reality and fiction, staying true to MiSide’s unsettling tone.
Despite its alpha status, the project is already playable on modest hardware. According to the developers, a system with an NVIDIA GT 1030, an AMD Athlon 3000G, 4 GB of RAM, and around 200 MB of storage is enough to run the game at 1080p, making it widely accessible to curious fans.
An Early Build
MiSide: Zero builds its gameplay from the ground up rather than functioning as a simple mod. Players can interact with objects in a 3D environment, manipulate lighting, and explore spaces that blend exploration with visual novel–style storytelling. Choices remain a core pillar, with branching paths and mini-games returning alongside new interaction systems that are still actively being refined.
The developers have been transparent about the alpha’s rough edges, describing the release as a rushed but intentional learning experience. They’ve framed the build as a sandbox for testing ideas, systems, and emotional beats, while hinting at future updates, announcements, and community events.
At the moment, MiSide: Zero has no confirmed full release date and is expected to remain PC-only, with no plans for console or subscription service launches. As development continues, fans eager to explore the broader MiSide universe can already dive in and offer feedback.
