Helldivers 2 unveils its Warbonds system

Helldivers 2 is the new third-person shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios. The creators of Magicka already delved into the genre with the first Helldivers and now return with a sequel that delivers an enhanced experience full of action. Set in a galaxy torn by war, Helldivers 2 pits you against hostile alien creatures and enemy forces across a variety of scenarios. As a member of the Super Earth Armed Forces, you will take part in strategic missions alongside three other soldiers. Cooperation is critical to succeed in your missions, and the game will feature crossplay and exciting cooperative mechanics to offer players a unique multiplayer experience.

Warbonds

Helldivers 2 will offer players many ways of improving their characters with additional weapons and customizing them with cosmetic items. Warbonds are purchasable with Super Credits, the in-game currency of the game, and each of them works like a battle pass of sorts. Once you buy one, you can unlock a series of cosmetic items and additional equipment for your character to use. These can significantly modify your gameplay choices by offering you new offensive and tactical options in the game.

As you progress in Helldivers 2 and complete missions, you will gain medals that you can use to unlock any specific item contained in any Warbond that you have purchased. Contrary to battle passes, you can choose what item you unlock at any given time and the Warbonds don't expire.

In Helldivers 2, you can earn Super Credits from missions or by purchasing them with real money. Therefore, all the content in the Warbonds is potentially obtainable for free. The system feels like an interesting evolution of the Battle Pass system.
