Exo One is flying to PS4 and PS5 this summer
Australian indie developer Exbleative and publisher All in! Games have announced that Exo One, their planetary exploration game, will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this summer. Exo One first launched for Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC on November 18th, 2021.
The game's almost solo developer, Jay Weston, shared a message on the PlayStation Blog with his excitement about his game arriving on new platforms. The publisher has also released a new trailer for Exo One.
Exo One is a game that is very reminiscent of the style and objective of Journey. You won't be facing enemies, bosses, or basically stressing yourself out. Quite the opposite. The focus is on embarking on a journey through the solar system, discovering universal wonders like terrestrial deserts to dreamy gas giants while controlling your probe and mastering gravity to reach unimaginable speeds. Jay describes the game as "a sort of meditative focus on traversal."
Gameplay features on the DualSense
In the gameplay, you control an alien probe, a small disc-shaped ship that flies and glides over terrain fast but fluidly. You play as the only living astronaut of an expedition to Jupiter. The narrative is delivered through a series of flashbacks and memories, recalled as the game progresses.
The most significant difference between Exo One on PlayStation 5 and the other platforms is the DualSense characteristics. The game promises a more immersive experience on Sony's console, given the new 120 FPS format and haptics features. With the PS5 controller, players will feel the wind resistance on the tiny ship through the DualSense trigger, making maneuvers more difficult. If you slide across the terrain, the controller will vibrate according to your piloting skills, offering more steady pulses or intense vibrations. The faster the ship, the stronger the vibrations.
Exo One launches in the summer for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Still, the new features will only be available for the PS5. The game is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC, and you can check out the best Exo One game deals in our comparator.
