Intel outlines next-gen architecture and launch plans for Panther Lake

Core Ultra Series 3 Panther Lake brings fresh architecture and launch info

Intel is set to officially launch its Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake" CPUs at the CES 2026 exhibition in Las Vegas on January 5th. This next-generation CPU lineup, fabricated using the cutting-edge 18A process, is expected to offer substantial performance gains over the current Arrow Lake and upcoming Lunar Lake processors.

The Panther Lake family will feature a five-tile architecture incorporating Cougar Cove performance cores, Darkmont and Skymont power-efficient cores, an integrated Xe3 Celestial GPU, and a 5th-generation NPU dedicated to accelerating on-device AI tasks. Intel is introducing new Core Ultra X branding, with the premium offering designated as the Core Ultra 9.

The Panther Lake product stack is projected to include around 14 SKUs. The flagship model will be the Core Ultra X9 388H, boasting 16 cores: four Cougar Cove high-performance cores, eight Darkmont efficiency cores, and four Skymont low-power E-cores. This SKU also integrates a 12-core Xe3 GPU and is anticipated to achieve a maximum clock speed of 5.1 GHz with a 25W TDP.

At the entry-level, the Core Ultra 5 322 will be introduced, featuring a dual-core Celestial GPU and a 6-core processor configuration (two performance cores and four power-efficient cores), with a maximum clock speed of 4.4 GHz. Intel plans to release 12 additional SKUs targeting various devices, including laptops and handhelds, many of which are likely to be demonstrated at CES.
