ASUS ROG pushes esports further with its new 24.5-inch OLED monitor
ASUS has officially introduced the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, claiming the title of the world’s first OLED monitor specifically designed for esports. Built with competitive gaming in mind, the display combines a 540Hz refresh rate with an ultra-fast 0.02ms response time, offering the speed and responsiveness professional players demand.
The monitor features a 24.5-inch Full HD panel, a screen size and resolution combination that remains highly popular in the esports scene due to its ability to keep all on-screen action within a player's field of view without requiring excessive head movement. ASUS has also equipped the display with a TrueBlack Glossy coating, which helps improve image clarity, text sharpness, and overall visual quality.
At the heart of the monitor is a new-generation Tandem WOLED panel. Compared to previous WOLED designs, ASUS claims it delivers up to 15% higher peak brightness, a 25% larger color volume, and a 60% longer lifespan. The display is certified for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600, covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and supports true 10-bit color reproduction with Delta E <2 color accuracy.
ASUS sees the XG259QWPG Ace as a major step forward for the esports monitor market. For years, high-refresh-rate TN panels have dominated competitive gaming thanks to their fast response times. However, with modern OLED technology now capable of reaching 540Hz while maintaining exceptional motion clarity and image quality, ASUS believes OLED could begin replacing TN as the preferred display technology for professional players.
To refine the monitor for competitive use, ASUS worked closely with major tournament organizers BLAST and PGL. The result includes several esports-focused features, such as measurement markings on the monitor stand to help players quickly recreate their preferred setup. The on-screen display has also been optimized for fast adjustments during competition.
Recognizing that many professional players are transitioning from TN panels, ASUS has included three dedicated esports color modes designed to replicate the visual characteristics of traditional competitive displays while retaining the benefits of OLED technology.
ASUS has not yet announced official pricing or a release date. However, given its specifications and cutting-edge panel technology, the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace is expected to target the premium end of the gaming monitor market. A launch following Computex 2026 appears likely, potentially marking a significant shift in the future of competitive gaming displays.
