ASUS unveils the ROG GR70 mini-PC with RTX 5070 and Ryzen 9 power

ASUS reveals the new ROG GR70 mini-PC with flagship AMD and NVIDIA power

ASUS has officially launched the ROG GR70, a compact gaming mini PC that packs high-end hardware into a chassis measuring under 3 liters in volume. First unveiled at CES 2026, the system is aimed at gamers and creators who want desktop-class performance without sacrificing desk space.

Unlike many gaming mini PCs that rely on Intel processors, the ROG GR70 is built around AMD Ryzen hardware. At the top of the lineup sits the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, a 16-core processor equipped with AMD's 3D V-Cache technology, making it particularly well suited for gaming and other demanding workloads. ASUS also offers configurations featuring the Ryzen 9 9955HX and Ryzen 9 8940HX, giving buyers a few options depending on their budget.

On the graphics side, ASUS pairs these processors with NVIDIA's latest laptop GPUs. The flagship model comes equipped with a GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, while a more affordable configuration features the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. While these are mobile graphics chips rather than desktop variants, they should still deliver excellent gaming performance in modern titles, especially considering the system's tiny footprint.

Packing this much power into such a small chassis inevitably raises questions about cooling, and ASUS has its own answer. The company says its new ROG QuietFlow cooling system combines three fans with multiple heat pipes to keep temperatures under control while maintaining relatively quiet operation. Whether it lives up to that promise under sustained gaming loads remains to be seen, but it's certainly one of the biggest engineering challenges with mini PCs.

The ROG GR70 measures just 282.4 × 187.7 × 56.5 mm, making it small enough to fit comfortably on almost any desk or even slip into a backpack for transport. Power is supplied via an external 330W adapter, helping keep the chassis itself as compact as possible.

Current configurations include:

  • Ryzen 9 9955HX3D + GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU
  • Ryzen 9 8940HX + GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU

Mini PCs have come a long way over the past few years, and the ROG GR70 is another example of just how much performance manufacturers can squeeze into remarkably small systems. For gamers, content creators, or anyone working with limited desk space, it could be an appealing alternative to a traditional desktop tower - provided the pricing is just as competitive as the hardware inside.

A mini PC with a Ryzen 9 and an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU sounds like a great option for gamers with limited desk space. I'm especially curious to see how quiet and efficient the cooling system is.
