ASUS teases next-gen NEO AM5 motherboards in run-up to CES 2026
ASUS has started revealing hints about a new line of “NEO” motherboards in anticipation of CES 2026. The teaser suggests that ASUS intends to adopt its NEO branding for upcoming ROG, TUF Gaming, and ProArt motherboard models. Additionally, the teaser highlights AMD’s AM5 socket, indicating that all these motherboards will be based on AMD's 800-series designs.
It's nearing that thrilling moment in the hardware industry again, as companies prepare to showcase their latest developments at CES 2026. Following MSI and Gigabyte, who have introduced their Max and X3D updates, ASUS is making its entrance with the much-awaited Neo series.
Currently, the specifics of what these new motherboards will offer remain unclear. It’s possible that this new series will allow ASUS to roll out its “NitroPath” DRAM technology more broadly. NitroPath uses specially designed DIMM slots to enhance signal integrity, and by minimizing noise, it enables increased memory speeds.
Through these motherboards, we anticipate ASUS will implement a larger 64MB BIOS ROM, allowing for more data storage and greater BIOS feature support. We also expect to see gradual design enhancements in ASUS’ motherboard heatsinks, power delivery systems, and EZ DIY functionalities.
AMD’s AM5 motherboards are likely to be compatible with the company's forthcoming Zen 6 CPUs. At CES, AMD is also anticipated to formally introduce its frequently leaked Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming CPU. This makes CES an ideal moment for ASUS to refresh its AM5 motherboard lineup. However, this may suggest that AMD will continue utilizing its 800-series chipset for Zen 6.
If you're looking to maximize the performance of the AM5 platform today, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is an excellent choice. With top-tier gaming performance and 3D V-Cache technology, it transforms any high-end motherboard into a genuine gaming powerhouse.
