ASUS unveils stunning Cyberpunk 2077 custom ROG Xbox Ally X handheld
ASUS has revealed a new custom version of its ROG Xbox Ally X handheld, this time inspired by Cyberpunk 2077. The special edition device was created in collaboration with CD Projekt Red and professional modding studio AK Mod, following ASUS’ earlier Kojima Productions-themed ROG Flow Z13 release from earlier this year.
Unlike many themed gaming products that simply feature alternate colors or printed artwork, ASUS says this is the world’s first professional case mod for the ROG Xbox Ally X. The project goes far beyond a basic cosmetic redesign, featuring a heavily customized exterior built to match the gritty futuristic style of Cyberpunk 2077.
However, ASUS has confirmed that this handheld is a unique one-off creation rather than a commercial product. According to the company, the custom device is “one of a kind,” meaning it will not be sold through retail stores. Instead, it may appear at gaming events or potentially be used as part of a giveaway promotion.
The design itself was crafted using layered spray paints, custom water decals, and weathering techniques to recreate the worn industrial aesthetic seen throughout Night City. AK Mod also used sand and salt effects to produce natural-looking wear patterns before finishing the handheld with a bright yellow neon theme inspired by Cyberpunk 2077’s signature visual style.
Internally, the hardware remains unchanged from the standard ROG Xbox Ally X. The handheld still features AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X memory, and a 1TB SSD, meaning the modifications are entirely external. Alongside the handheld, AK Mod also created a matching display stand modeled after Johnny Silverhand’s cybernetic arm from the game. ASUS says only three of these stands exist, with one planned to be given away to a Cyberpunk 2077 fan.
The company also confirmed that it will give away a copy of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on May 21, though it has not announced whether the custom handheld itself will ever be offered as a prize. While this specific version is not headed to retail, the project may help ASUS measure interest in themed ROG Ally systems. If demand proves strong enough, future limited-edition handheld collaborations could become more common.
