Acer reveals Predator Atlas 8 handheld packing Intel Arc G3 graphics
Acer has officially confirmed that it will unveil its next-generation gaming handheld, the Predator Atlas 8, during Computex 2026. The upcoming device will be powered by Intel’s new Arc G3 Extreme SoC and aims to compete with premium handheld gaming PCs by combining strong graphics performance with modern AI-powered gaming features.
The Predator Atlas 8 will support up to 24GB of LPDDR5X-7467 memory and feature up to 12 Xe GPU cores based on Intel’s latest Arc graphics architecture. Built using Intel’s 3nm Panther Lake platform, the integrated GPU includes support for XeSS 3 upscaling, Multi Frame Generation, and real-time ray tracing.
According to early laptop benchmarks using similar hardware, Intel’s new integrated graphics can reportedly deliver performance close to an RTX 4050 Laptop GPU in some games. Titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 6 are said to run between 60 and 100 FPS with the help of XeSS technologies, making this a potentially major leap forward for handheld gaming performance.
The handheld itself features an 8-inch 1920×1200 display with a 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support, and a peak brightness of 500 nits. Acer is also using Corning Gorilla Glass with DXC coating to reduce reflections and improve outdoor visibility. The screen supports 10-point multi-touch functionality as well.
Battery life and efficiency are another major focus. Acer says the Atlas 8 includes up to an 80Wh battery paired with Intel Endurance Gaming technology, which dynamically balances performance and power consumption during gameplay sessions away from a charger.
In terms of cooling, the device borrows design elements from Acer’s Predator laptop lineup. It uses a custom dual-fan thermal system featuring AeroBlade fans with ultra-thin 0.1mm blades that reportedly improve airflow by up to 10% compared to competing handhelds.
Additional features include PredatorSense software for RGB lighting customization, live FPS and battery monitoring, and performance tuning controls. Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 5.4, WiFi 7, and UHS-II microSD support.
Acer is expected to reveal full specifications, pricing, and release details for the Predator Atlas 8 during Computex 2026 next week. As always, for the latest news on hardware launches and industry developments, be sure to follow our dedicated hardware coverage.
