Valorant is the new shooter from Riot Games
As a result of the leak on IGN from several pics of their game, the creators of League of Legends have finally unveiled a lot of information about one of their upcoming games. Not very long ago, Riot Games announces that they would be diversifying their video games offer by releasing several new ones. Their collectible card game Legends of Runeterra is a reality now and it seems to be faring quite well so far. But one of the titles that raised the interest of the players was Project A, which was supposed to be a shooter. Riot Games has finally confirmed that it's called Valorant.
A cataclysmic event occurs sometime in our future, reshaping the world and its governments. Alongside its geopolitical effects, the event also gives certain hypernatural powers to special individuals. That is how Agents and their in-game organization, Valorant, come to be.
Valorant is a free-to-play character-based tactical shooter. Players will play as those Agents and each of them has their own personality and abilities. Each character has four abilities: one Signature Ability that they get for free every round, two that they have to buy (but they’ll keep over multiple rounds until they’re used up), and one ultimate ability that has to be charged by getting kills.
Similar to Counter-Strike's defuse game mode, there are two teams of five players on every match, one attacking and one defending. The attacking team has a bomb (called the Spike) that they need to plant on one of several different sites. If the attacking team plants the Spike and protects it until it explodes, they win. The defending team has to stop them by defusing the bombs before it explodes to win the round. Each player has one life per round, so if all members of a team are all eliminated that also counts as a win for their opponents. Guns can be bought at the beginning of each round unless you survived the previous one, in that case, your loadout will carry over. Among the weapons available in Valorant you will find assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, and light machine guns. Abilities are also bought before rounds start and act as single-use items.
Valorant features both a Casual mode and a Ranked mode, but it is not been confirmed yet if it will be the next game to hit the Esports scene. No loot boxes will be added to the game, but there will be some cosmetic skins for weapons purchasable from the store. A battle pass system that will provide the players with cosmetic rewards will be in place.
