Unveiled for the very first time at E3 2019, Deathloop is an upcoming game by Lyon studio Arkane. The trailer that was shown at the event was a real eye-catcher and its neat artistic direction was reminiscent of the aesthetic of Tarantino's films in some ways. It must be said that Arkane has already proven its capabilities with the Dishonored series.
We were able to learn a little more about Deathloop during the online version of QuakeCon 2020, that was held this weekend due to the Coronavirus. We could watch a preview of the gameplay on June 11, during of the presentation of the Playstation 5 games, but Deathloop remained however quite enigmatic. The video broadcasted during QuakeCon, a developer diary, reveals a number of details, both in terms of history and gameplay.
Like the movie Groundhog Day, in which Bill Murray relives the same 24 hours, Deathloop will put you in the shoes of Colt, a man stuck on the island of Blackreef, which is subject to a time loop. To break it, Colt will have to shoot down no less than eight targets, the Visionaries, who are at the origin of the loop. If only one of them remains alive, he will have to start all over again. By reliving that same day, you will be able to learn more about your targets, track down their habits, identify their strengths and weaknesses, but also gain power. The only problem is that you will also be chased by one of these targets, Julianna Blake, who aims to make your mission fail.
And Julianna Blake is not just a NPC, she is also the most interesting feature of the game, because you can play her, to go and wreak havoc on other players' games, and vice versa. It is not known how this feature will exactly work in Deathloop, but it will be possible to deactivate it.
No release date has been revealed yet, but we should have news about it rather soon, as Deathloop is due out by the end of the year on Playstation 5 and PC.
