This Week's Video Game Releases - October 2025 (Week 41)

The second week of October 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent gaming memory, bringing a flood of highly anticipated releases across nearly every genre. From sprawling shooters and chilling horror sequels to creative indies and retro-inspired RPGs, players have a packed week ahead. At the center of the excitement are two major highlights: the long-awaited Battlefield 6 and the eerie return of Little Nightmares III.

October 6 - 12 releases

Tuesday, October 7, sets the tone for the week with a remarkable lineup of nine new releases. Blood of Mehran leads the charge, an atmospheric action RPG steeped in Persian mythology that promises an emotional story and punishing combat. Fans of classic Japanese role-playing games can look forward to Gensei Suikoden Plus, a remastered and expanded version of a beloved cult favorite.

Simulation enthusiasts aren't left out either, with Seafarer: The Ship Sim offering a realistic ocean-faring experience that lets players pilot everything from cargo ships to luxury liners. On the darker side, Dying Breed immerses players in a crime-ridden open world filled with moral choices and gritty storytelling, while Deathground brings prehistoric terror with its dinosaur-infested survival horror gameplay.

Rounding out the day's releases are Shrine's Legacy, a co-op pixel adventure inspired by 16-bit classics; Battle Suit Aces, a high-speed mech action title; Lethal Honor – Order of the Apocalypse, a stylish comic book brawler with roguelite elements; and Little Rocket Lab, a lighthearted puzzle-platformer built around physics-based rocket crafting.

The action continues on Wednesday, October 8, with several high-profile titles launching back-to-back. The Legacy weaves a multigenerational mystery across a haunted family estate, combining puzzle-solving with deep narrative elements. Steel Knight's ARMIS caters to fans of futuristic combat and mecha customization, while Kingmakers finally steps out of early access to deliver a hybrid of large-scale medieval strategy and immersive third-person warfare.

Thursday belongs to Little Nightmares III, the haunting sequel that once again plunges players into a world of childhood fears and surreal danger. Building upon the series' signature blend of eerie atmosphere and wordless storytelling, this entry introduces co-op gameplay and new environments that promise both beauty and terror in equal measure. Early impressions suggest it could be the most ambitious installment yet.

Also arriving on October 9 are several noteworthy titles. Beacon of Neyda delivers a visually stunning sci-fi exploration experience, while Rise Eterna 2 continues its tactical RPG legacy with refined combat and storytelling. Platforming fans can revisit a reimagined classic with Yooka-Replaylee, and indie enthusiasts can look forward to Dicealot, a dice-based roguelike with quirky charm. Horror and mystery lovers can dive into the eerie fairytale world of Bye Sweet Carole, or unravel the mind-bending puzzles of Absolum. Additional releases include Runeborn, Dreams of Another, and several promising smaller-scale adventures.

The week concludes with a thunderous finale on Friday, October 10, as Battlefield 6 finally arrives worldwide. EA's flagship first-person shooter returns to its roots with massive 128-player battles, advanced destruction physics, and a new dynamic weather system that transforms maps in real time. The game aims to reignite the large-scale warfare experience that defined the series, with critics already praising its technical ambition and renewed focus on teamwork.

Friday's lineup doesn't stop there. Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club brings family-friendly detective fun, while Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga unites two beloved RPG franchises in an explosive crossover. Fans of offbeat sims can try Before Exit: Gas Station, a darkly comedic management game, or relax with PixelJunk Eden 2, a gorgeous and meditative indie sequel. Rounding out the releases is Barbie Horse Trails, an open-world riding adventure tailored for younger audiences.

From large-scale warfare and cinematic horror to creative indies and nostalgic throwbacks, this week's lineup offers something for everyone. Battlefield 6 is set to dominate headlines, while Little Nightmares III promises to keep players awake long after the credits roll. With nearly two dozen titles launching in just a few days, October 2025 looks very promising for gamers everywhere.
