Nvidia ends Game‑Ready updates for older GPUs and Windows 10
Nvidia has officially announced that it will cease support for its Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta series graphics cards. The final Nvidia Game Ready driver for these GPUs is scheduled to be released in October 2025, aligning with the end-of-life for Windows 10 from Microsoft.
Going forward, users of Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs will receive security updates every three months. This support will last for a period of three years, until October 2028. During this time, no new optimizations for gaming or additional features will be provided for these legacy graphics cards.
This decision affects Nvidia’s GTX 900, GTX 10, and Titan V (Volta) graphics cards. All of these GPUs are now considered outdated and are becoming less common. Nevertheless, many gamers continue to rely on these GPUs, particularly the Nvidia GTX 10 series Pascal models.

Furthermore, Nvidia is extending Game Ready Driver support for all GeForce RTX GPUs running on Windows 10 to October 2026, which is a year longer than the operating system's end-of-life date, ensuring that users can still access the latest day-0 optimizations for new games and applications.
While Nvidia’s claim is technically accurate, PC gamers who prefer staying with Windows 10 for a bit longer can do so. Essentially, Nvidia was required to maintain support for Windows 10 until October 2026 to avoid significant backlash from users hesitant to adopt Windows 11. After this date, Nvidia GPU users will need to transition to a new operating system.
With Nvidia officially stopping driver support for older GPUs, it's clear that the focus is shifting toward next-generation performance and features powered by AI. If you’re prepared to upgrade from older hardware and embrace the latest innovations, the RTX 5080 serves as the ideal upgrade—delivering exceptional power, DLSS 4, and support for 4K+ gaming.
