Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 24H2
Unlike recent Windows 11 updates, the 24H2 version represents a major change for Microsoft's operating system, so the update process will take longer than usual. The update process will proceed as usual, with Microsoft rolling it out to users running Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 who are genuinely interested in the early stages.
This means users need to go to the Settings app, select Windows Update, and request the update manually by clicking "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available." Then, check for updates by clicking "Check for updates." If the system meets the requirements and there are no blocking issues, the Settings app will allow the download of Windows 11 24H2. As usual, users can also download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO file from Microsoft's official website and install the operating system. Note that BitLocker will be enabled by default on Home and Pro editions, although users can turn it off.

New features in Windows 11 24H2 include an updated contextual menu, improved Settings app, HDR wallpaper support, Wi-Fi 7, updated battery and power settings, updated Quick Settings menu, and more.
Since Windows 11 24H2 is a "whole new operating system update," it comes with some known issues and bugs. Currently, the list is quite extensive, with up to 6 confirmed hardware and software issues. Some of these have workarounds, while others will be addressed in future software updates.
For the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 24H2, the standard support lifecycle will be 24 months. Microsoft has also announced Windows 11 LTSC 2024 with a 10-year support lifecycle. Commercial customers can download the 24H2 version through WSUS, Windows Update for Business, and Admin Center.
