Xbox App Now a Universal Launcher for All Your PC Games

Earlier this year, a mockup from Microsoft revealed a revamped Xbox app for PC, showcasing an intriguing enhancement: the inclusion of support for various PC stores, hinting that it might evolve into a universal launcher similar to GOG Galaxy or Playnite. With the company's recent initiative to develop a gaming-centric version of Windows for handheld devices, it became evident that this feature was imminent. Now, Xbox Insiders can experience it firsthand.

This feature, introduced today as the 'aggregated gaming library,' is set to launch this holiday season on the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, allowing users to conveniently manage all their installed games from one location. However, Xbox Insiders on PC will have the opportunity to test it out first and share their feedback with Microsoft.

Currently, the feature supports Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and "other leading PC storefronts," all accessible through the Xbox PC app. While the company did not specify which storefronts are included, popular options like Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, and EA Play apps are strong possibilities.

When a game from a supported storefront is installed on a PC, Insiders should be able to find it within the Xbox app under the My Library and Most Recent sections for quick access. Microsoft notes, "And this is just the beginning." “We’ll continue rolling out support for additional PC storefronts over time.”

Insiders also have the option to disable this feature and hide games from particular stores if they wish, using the Settings > Library & Extensions menu. Anyone eager to try the new 'aggregated gaming library' update can use the Xbox Insider app on PC to sign up for the ongoing Insider Previews.
