Intel quietly adds Core Ultra 7 251HX to its Arrow Lake HX lineup

It seems Intel has decided to get ahead of ongoing leaks by quietly adding its “mystery” Arrow Lake-HX chip to the lineup. Without any formal announcement, the company has made the Core Ultra 7 251HX official.

Positioned just below the Core Ultra 7 255HX, this processor features an 18-core, 18-thread configuration made up of 6 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores. That places it neatly between the 14-core Ultra 5 245HX and the 20-core Ultra 7 255HX in Intel’s mobile stack.

Previously leaked details have now been confirmed. The Core Ultra 7 251HX comes with a 2.9 GHz base clock for its P-cores and carries a 55W TDP, while maximum turbo power can scale up to 160W depending on workload and cooling conditions. Boost speeds reach up to 5.1 GHz on the P-cores and 4.5 GHz on the E-cores, with the latter seeing a notable 700 MHz increase in base clock compared to the 255HX.

The cache configuration of the Core Ultra 7 251HX remains consistent with its higher-tier sibling, the Core Ultra 7 255HX, offering a substantial 30 MB of L3 cache and 30 MB of total L2 cache. One key difference, however, is in the integrated graphics architecture; this specific chip includes only three Xe3 cores, whereas the 255HX features four. This adjustment in the GPU core count represents one of the primary hardware distinctions between the two models, positioning the 251HX as the most basic SKU within Intel's high-end 7-series mobile lineup.

With the addition of the 251HX, Intel’s Arrow Lake-HX mobile lineup is now more complete, ranging from the 14-core Core Ultra 5 235HX up to the 24-core Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus. As the entry-level option within the Ultra 7 series, the 251HX could become a popular choice among laptop makers if it delivers strong value for its performance.
