FSR “Redstone” debuts Dec 10, but AMD limits it to the RX 9000 lineup
AMD’s Jach Huynh has revealed that the company will hold an FSR “Redstone” premiere event on December 10th. During this event, AMD will present its latest Radeon technologies, providing gamers with a preview of the future of PC and console gaming.
Last week, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was released with the support of AMD’s Ray Regeneration technology. This is just one of many innovations that AMD plans to showcase at the Redstone Premiere event. To date, AMD has introduced four FSR “Redstone” technologies. These include Neural Radiance Cache, Ray Regeneration, ML Super Resolution, and ML Frame Generation. We anticipate that AMD will display these technologies next month, along with potentially new and undisclosed Redstone technologies.

AMD FSR "Redstone" Ray Regeneration operates similarly to NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction by utilizing a neural network to recreate pixels that couldn't be accurately path-traced, particularly enhancing reflection quality when applying super resolution.
The new AI-driven Frame Generation model represents a major advancement over the interpolation technology AMD implemented with FSR 3. This method employs machine learning along with integrated temporal and spatial awareness to produce interleaved frames with greater precision and improved image quality. Although this technique does not achieve the 2x frame-rate increase seen with NVIDIA's RTX 40-series "Ada" architecture, it intentionally emphasizes higher visual fidelity.
AMD's teaser has clearly indicated that it aims to focus its new FSR “Redstone” technologies on the Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. We can expect further details about AMD’s FSR “Redstone” technology next month.
