2K Games reveals the development of a new BioShock game

The rumor has been running for a while, giving some hope to the fans of the series, but it is now official: a new installment of the BioShock series is currently under development.

2K Games has published a long press release on its blog to announce their new studio called Cloud Chamber. In fact, it is quite possible that the studio has been around for some time because the rumors have been circulating about the development of a new BioShock game emerged from a tweet by Kelley Gillmore announcing the recruitment of a Senior Multiplayer Designer for 2K in Novato (California). It turns out that Cloud Chamber is based in Novato, it has another studio in Montreal, and Kelley Gillmore is none other than Cloud Chamber's Studio Head. She has also worked with Firaxis in the past, on licenses such as Civilization and XCOM. Even though the link between these two pieces of information is not proven, it still suggests that the next BioShock could have a multiplayer mode, like BioShock 2.

We are looking for a Senior Multiplayer Designer to work on our unannounced, triple-A, larger-than-life game at 2K in Novato, CA. Spread the word! Details here:https://t.co/DvupqHex6M

Although a new installment of the BioShock series is indeed under development, we will not be able to enjoy it immediately because 2K Games in its press release tells us that it will be "for the next few years". This means that the game will not see the day before the next generation of consoles. It will be necessary to have patience, but we can rest assured because the next BioShock installment seems to be in good hands.

More information has been revealed, this time on Kotaku, by Jason Schreier. The next game would be called BioShock: Parkside and the development would have started in 2015 by Certain Affinity, but the project would have finally been abandoned in 2016 to be taken over internally by 2K. Therefore, it could be that the new team has been working on it for up to three years now. Of course, this information is not from official sources, so take it with a pinch of salt.

The fans of the series will be delighted to know that BioShock 4 or BioShock: Parkside is a reality today. It remains to know if it is a follow-up of BioShock Infinite or a prequel.
