Defiance is a trans-media entertainment created by Trion and SyFy. In order to fully develop the narration of this universe, SyFy offers a TV show and Trion an MMO. The universe takes place thirty years in the future in which there has been an alien civilization invasion. The Earth bears the marks done by alien machines. Humans and aliens now have to live together in order to build a whole new civilization. The MMORPG takes place in San Francisco, a vast playground in which you play as an Ark Hunter. These brave adventurers will constantly fight and defy the danger in order to find the Votan artifacts. One of the other features of this project is the impact that will have both media on the other. The series events will have a real impact on the game, and vice versa. For example, a decisive battle in the TV show will have a direct impact on the game, while some players may appear as extras in the series.
