Xenoblade Chronicles 2 made a big splash at this years E3. The game was first unveiled at the Nintendo Switch reveal event, where it was shown off as one of the games to be coming in the first year of release. Though we don’t know a definitive release date, as it’s being touted as “Holiday 2017”, this years E3 did let us dive much deeper into the games world. Though this has the “2” in it, the game will be set in an entirely different world from past Xenoblade Chronicles titles, and thus, we have to learn a few things about the world.
Thankfully, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 website is up, and within it has many details about the game. You do have to translate it, as its only in Japanese right now, but it’s worth it.
The world itself is set within the “cloud ocean” and it is here where massive creatures known as Titans live and move around. Humanity (or at least the humanity we see at the beginning of the game) has taken up homes on these massive creatures. There are settlements throughout them that we will find. Plus, via the E3 Treehouse, we know that there are many Titans that we will see and go to throughout the game.
The one we start off on is called Ars, which is the one you see in the demo about. There are other Titans that are teased, including a whale one.
As for the main characters, they are Rex and Pyra, but you’ll meet more as the game goes on. Rex is a “Driver” who has the ability to summon forth beings from Core Crystals. Pyra is a Blade, or a manifestation of a literal weapon. They fight together in battle in a very unique way.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 releases this Holiday.
