Nintendo Went To Psyonix To Bring Rocket League to Switch

Nintendo had a very big E3 press conference, or Spotlight as they called it. It had many 1st party titles that fans can be happy about. However, they did have some solid 3rd party titles to show off as well, including a big surprise in the form of Rocket League. Yeah, that’s right, Rocket League. This game has been tearing up the sales charts on multiple systems ever since it came out, and now, it’s going to be on the most mobile console platform ever in the Nintendo Switch.

The best part is that not only will the Switch version of Rocket League have all the bells and whistles that the other versions of the game have, but it’ll also support Cross-Play with Xbox One and PC! Also though, it’ll get some special karts based off of the Nintendo brand, which is always something to look forward to.

But what might surprise you is that Nintendo themselves actually went to developer Psyonix and asked them to make the game on the Switch. Even more surprising was that the team was actually testing the game out for Switch last year!

“In terms of pure greenlighting for when this project started, three months ago,” says Psyonix Vice-President Jeffrey Dunham says to US Gamer, “If you wanna talk about when we first started investigating, messing with dev kits, late last year was about when we first started looking at it.”

They noted at the E3 presentation that fans had been wanting Rocket League on Switch, and now they are all too happy to deliver it to them. The game is set to arrive this Holiday.
